"Like Kubrick's films themselves, working it out is half the fun."
English duo Soulsavers' Kubrick is immediately satisfying as a collection of modern classical music lachrymosity.
Mournful strings, pensive guitars, snow flaking pianos and moody electronica create a breathtaking sonic cinema, but the concept doesn't frame the characters that give these pieces their titles as successfully. Is 2001: A Space Odyssey's Hal as lonely or grieving as this piece suggests? Does Torrance essay Jack's descent into nut-jobbery or Wendy's building terror of her husband? It's hard to say, but like Kubrick's films themselves, working it out is half the fun.
