Album Review: Panda Bear - Crosswords

"The songs here tend to be more accessible than previous releases"

Animal Collective alum Noah Lennox surprises everyone with little-heralded EP Crosswords.

The songs here tend to be more accessible than previous releases, again Lennox is mixing new tracks with old reworked numbers. Jabberwocky feels like a natural (albeit belated) neon-glow progression from Merriweather Post Pavilion, while No Mans Land ricochets throughout a typically vivid kaleidoscopic dream, like a Brian Wilson take on Person Pitch. None of the remixes really top the songs in their original format though, so it's best to indulge in the full album Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper from earlier this year instead.
