Album Review: Darkstar - Foam Island

"...their dedication to a mystifying sound uniquely theirs is reassuringly familiar."

If News From Nowhere was a hazy, if sometimes chilly, anti-gravity dream sequence, Foam Island is a bleak, monochrome vision; a weird sort of concept album about living with the consequences of a culture centred on acquiring and then protecting wealth at all costs.

Clearly a product of the current disillusioned climate of British austerity, the likes of Stoke The Fire, Through The Motions and the title track evidence intrepid new songwriting directions for Darkstar, although their dedication to a mystifying sound uniquely theirs is reassuringly familiar.
