"Gone are the beer-spilling footy anthems of Chelsea Dagger."
Since The Fratellis' lengthy hiatus there's been a quiet expectation the Scottish three-piece would burst onto the scene again.
Hopeful fans rejoice, because burst they have with fourth album Eyes Wide, Tongue Tied. Gone are the beer-spilling footy anthems of Chelsea Dagger and the loose, swaggering guitar lines, and in their place is a more jagged, clean-cut sound but still with Jon Fratelli's raspy pipes. Tracks like Me And The Devil nail the jangly, piano-backed urgent rock, but Desperate Guy, Getting Surreal and Slow render the back-end a bit formulaic.
