They re-imagine the golden era of Southern hip hop
The cynical days of rappers using a different producer on every track in order to extract the maximum amount of money from the market has been challenged in recent years by the return of the one MC-one producer album.
The latest is South Florida MC Eric Biddines' collaboration with South London producer Paul White as Golden Rules. Biddines' thick Southern twang-drawl and penchant for swinging between singing and rhyming is undeniably Andre 3000-esque, yet when paired with White's languid funk they re-imagine the golden era of Southern hip hop with a righteous, uncomplicated album, perfect for the warmer months.
