Album Review: Vince Staples - Summertime '06

With his debut album Summertime ‘06 Vince Staples has put his mark on the US west coast forevermore.

An honest and dark album about growing up in Long Beach, gang life and love, Staples doesn’t hold anything back, keeping it brutally honest to the point this could be the first true Gangsta Rap album since (and perhaps, even before) Schoolboy Q’s Oxymoron. As his major label debut, Staples has dropped one of the most honest albums in modern hip hop. If you get around A$AP Ferg and Danny Brown, then this’ll be right up your alley.
