"An interesting movement from pop-jazz vulnerabilities to laidback New Orleans rhythms."

More Rickie Lee Jones More Rickie Lee Jones

The first new material from Rickie Lee Jones in six years is an interesting movement from pop-jazz vulnerabilities to laidback New Orleans rhythms.

At heart, Jones still poses the burning jazz passion in Jimmy Choos and Juliette, but external influences have shifted sounds from J’ai Connais Pas, Valtz De Mon Pere (Lovers’ Waltz) and the resounding majority of this record into a more reinvigorated style that touches on Dixieland, country and blues, lending new life to her resoundingly sharp and distinct vocals that should satisfy those who’ve waited so long.
