"An album showcasing the sounds of a band with decades of experience who still have a hell of a lot to say"

A self-titled album so late in a band’s career always carries a certain weight – how definite can Wire’s 13th album really be?

Whilst not definitive, Wire is another great statement from an evolving band. From the lush post-punk of Burning Bridges to the hard-edged jamming of Harpooned, this is an album showcasing the sounds of a band with decades of experience who still have a hell of a lot to say. Wire’s refusal to dwell on past brilliance may continue to frustrate some, but the creativity and excellence of this album are undeniable.
