Album Review: Ben Salter - The Stars My Destination

It’s no surprise it’s nigh on five years between Salter albums as he’s kept to his peripatetic way as part of The Gin Club and Giants Of Science among musical sidetracks.

The solo work is naturally more personal, often, here, with a feeling of unsettled moving on or away. The title track looks out of a late night bus window rather than any dreamy philosophising the title suggests, while I Just Can’t Live Like This Anymore is a self-deprecating shrug as she throws him out, concluding “I’m getting older, but not any wiser.” But yeah, he is.
