Bad Seeds co-conspirators Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have created another haunting score, this time for Loin Des Hommes, a French film adaptation by director David Oelhoffen of Albert Camus’ short story, The Guest.

Experienced in isolation, without the film, the soundtrack works as a tension-filled, primarily instrumental collection of pieces using piano, violin, droning tones and some electronica to create a feeling of both beauty and dread. The pair, composing soundtracks for over a decade now, have developed a unique style of dark and drifting moods and experimental otherworldliness continued here.
