"Ceremony explores an internalised existential rage and embraces angsty nihilistic melancholia"

Ceremony have a reputation for their hardcore punk sound but honestly, when a band takes their name from a Joy Division song of the same name it’s only a matter of time before the ghost of Ian Curtis looms large.

In shades of Interpol when they turned on the bright lights, The L-Shaped Man earnestly pays homage to Curtis and Joy Division. A break-up album of sorts, Ceremony explores an internalised existential rage and embraces angsty nihilistic melancholia in ways that will give great pleasure to those looking for ‘80s-styled post-punk kicks.
