Album Review: Dwight Yoakam -- Second Hand Heart

Having your thing down to a science can sometimes mean having your thing down to a set of predictable and sterile tricks and tropes.

But in the case of Dwight Yoakam and Second Hand Heart, you get the kind of expert hand that makes the masterful look effortless. It’s good ol’ boy country rock that makes no apologies for being good ol’ boy country rock. There may not be any surprises on Second Hand Heart, but at this stage in Yoakam’s career, I can’t imagine many of his diehard faithful are in the market for surprise.
