"Dark Red is a crafty Halloween excursion, but If Shlohmo’s really going to creep us out, he’s going to have to start screwing with reality again."

More Shlohmo More Shlohmo

Setting aside the experimentation of Bad Vibes, Shlohmo focuses here on honing his compositional talents.

So whilst Dark Red doesn’t melt synapses, it’s infested with all manner of ominous shadow-lurkers that might have crawled out of a vintage John Carpenter movie; e.g. the disturbingly unintelligible vocalisations of Apathy or the closing horror, Beams, which lowers the curtain with a shuddering orgy of beats. Dark Red is a crafty Halloween excursion, but If Shlohmo’s really going to creep us out, he’s going to have to start screwing with reality again.
