Album Review: Rumer - Into Colour

"Pure honey for the ears."

More Rumer More Rumer

Her label really missed an opportunity releasing this two days after Valentine’s Day.

Sarah Joyce’s vocals are as Karen Carpenter-smooth-and-caressing as ever. You certainly wouldn’t know she’d had a breakdown and, surprisingly, been diagnosed as bipolar, ADHD and suffering post-traumatic stress. The “angriest” line on the album, “’Cause people can stab you in the back,” in You Don’t Know People, is delivered as wistfully as a soft sunshower. Into Colour is pure silk, as comfortable as a slow dance at midnight with your lover. Burt Bacharach knew what he’d discovered in Rumer – pure honey for the ears.
