"Quiet and haunting but again worthy of attention"
English multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Duke Garwood’s collaboration with Mark Lanegan on 2013’s Black Pudding was a sombre release (and a surprise little hit) despite it mostly flying under people’s radar.
It seems to have garnered enough attention, leading to his signing with London-based Heavenly recordings (Beth Orton, The Wytches and Mark Lanegan). Heavy Love, Garwood’s fifth solo album, sees him drift between the light and (mostly) dark parts of the soul, quiet and haunting but again worthy of attention, at least until season 2 of True Detective kicks off.
