"It’s a few knockout tunes short of a great record"

These English metallers successfully sidestepped the “nu-thrash” wave half a decade ago, and have since gradually but intriguingly explored other avenues without neglecting their debt to early Metallica and classic melo-death.

Their fourth LP sees prog tendencies becoming properly realised. Meanwhile, a doom, almost post-metal edge a la Cult Of Luna further punctuates a uniquely bleak atmosphere befitting the lyrical content, which chastises those who exist on auto-pilot. While you can play spot the influence and it’s a few knockout tunes short of a great record, this coherent mélange satisfies in the riff department.
