Album Review: Calvin Harris - Motion

"There’s a distinct lack of standouts."

More Calvin Harris More Calvin Harris

Considering the mayhem following 2012’s massive 18 Months, Harris should be high-fived for bringing out his fourth album, Motion, within such a timeframe. But does it stack up to it, or even its predecessor Ready For The Weekend?

Pretty well, as new collaborations with pop’s brightest (John Newman for Blame, Ellie Goulding for Outside, Hurts for Ecstasy) ensure Harris keeps a tight hold on those hot-shot producer reins. But there’s a distinct lack of standouts; most tracks seem to follow the same slow build with little in the way of anthems, something that made his priors must haves.
