The Sydney band have just set off on a tour in support of the single.

More The Lockhearts More The Lockhearts

Sydney rockers The Lockhearts kicked off their tour in support of new single Ride Home last night in Melbourne, and have followed it up with a super-fun and creative video clip, proudly premiering on theMusic.com.au today.

Featuring miniature sets hand-built by The Media Collective, the video puts the band behind the wheel in a tiny li'l city that, uh, also appears to be built on a (relatively) giant skeleton, hitting all the cornerstones of a quality muscle-car movie along the way.

Ride Home is taken from the band's upcoming debut full-length, Americana Doom Fuzz (due early 2018), and has quickly become a crowd favourite at The Lockhearts' shows, guitarist/vocalist Tim Meaco said in a statement.

"It's about distancing yourself from negative people," he said. "If somebody with an agenda senses compassion in you and latches on until you're completely drained, the best thing to do is put them in a cab and get them out of your house."

The Ride Home clip pulled in help from some seriously talented folk, which is little surprise since The Lockhearts were looking to continue their reputation for delivering quality videos (their debut video, Low, earned the band a bronze medal at the 2015 Global Music Awards).

To that end, they teamed up again with lauded director Tanzeal Rahim and a stack of other behind-the-scenes contributors (including special effects artist Rodney Burke, from the renowned Dan Oliver Special Effects company) to bring their unique vision to life.

If you want to catch them in action, the band will be continuing their Ride Home tour in Melbourne tomorrow night, 26 August, at the Cherry Bar, before playing a secret show... somewhere… and heading on to Newcastle and Brisbane.
