More Fountaineer More Fountaineer

Bendigo three-piece Fountaineer are just about to knock over a handful of Victorian live shows but, before they hit the stage, they're first unveiling the new video for their delightful track Words With Friends, premiering today on theMusic.com.au.

The video — a sweet little story of a mobile ice-cream seller who literally cannot give his fruit away — takes viewers to some of the country's diverse regional and suburban areas, including long, dusty roads and city laundromats, before taking a bit of a turn for the surreal and unsettling, in the best kind of way.

It's a fantastic, fun and fitting accompaniment to a song of a similar vibe, the track itself having been released back in February via 1825 Records. Words With Friends is their first new single since 2016's attention-grabbing Still Life, and follows a hugely successful past 12-month period that has steered the boys — brothers Anthony and Francis White, with childhood mate Kieran Daly — to high-profile support slots for the likes of Gang Of Youths and buzz act Middle Kids as well as taking the stage at last year's BIGSOUND event in Brisbane.

The clip was shot by Dylan Harris (with special thanks to Icecream Social for the use of their truck), and the single is available now. So, you have ample opportunity to familiarise yourself before the band sets off for their upcoming sojourn, which gets under way at Melbourne's Gasometer Hotel this Thursday, 16 March.

They then head to south Gippsland for a three-day spell at The Hills Are Alive, then it's back to Melbourne for two more shows in late March and mid-April.
