The band set off for a seven-date tour in support from next week.

More The Lockhearts More The Lockhearts

The Lockhearts are steaming towards the release of their impending album, Americana Doom Fuzz, and are previewing another taste from the upcoming work in the southern-rock strut of new single Goddamn Pretty.

Written by singer/guitarist Tim Meaco during a trip to California and New York, Goddamn Pretty wears its influences — the Eagles, Tom Petty and Fleetwood Mac — on its sleeve, as the frontman was a) listening to all three quite a bit at the time, and b) "wanted to capture that Californian summer-love feeling".

"The song is about gleefully running away from all your troubles to find moments of joy and falling in love with American strangers," he said in a statement.

Indeed, the song deftly showcases the "Americana" aspect of the band's music, with the "doom" and "fuzz" components doubtlessly on display throughout the rest of the forthcoming album, which is set for release in 2018 on Golden Robot Records.

Before the record lands, however, The Lockhearts are setting off for a seven-date tour in support of their new earworm, kicking off next Friday, 3 November, at Melbourne's Bendigo Hotel. They'll then play two shows in Sydney — one supporting US outfit Supersuckers — before heading on to Brisbane and the Gold and Sunshine coasts.
