Single title?: Haven't Been Alive

What's the song about?: Putting someone else's needs first in a relationship, and having your own personality and desires suppressed.

How long did it take to write/record?: Wrote it in a day. Took two days to record. I played drums and rhythm guitar, Ben Franz (The Stillsons, The Waifs) played bass, and Justin Bernasconi played lead guitar.

Is this track from a forthcoming release/existing release?: Haven't Been Alive is from my debut album When We Were Young which was released last September.

What was inspiring you during the song's writing and recording?: To be honest, I don't really remember. What's inspiring me now is listening to guitarists like Peter Green, Elmore James and Jimmy Reed, and songwriters like CW Stoneking, Robert Johnson, Carole King and Hank Williams.

We'll like this song if we like...: Neil Young, Linda Ronstadt, Rumors-era Fleetwood Mac

Do you play it differently live?: Live, it's got a more rugged edge to it.

When and where is your launch/next gig?: The Stag and Hunter, Newcastle - Saturday 30 May, Shady Pines Saloon, Sydney - Sunday 31 May
