Single title? Team Sports
What's the song about? Team Sports explores a hazy psychological realm where reckless indulgence, sex and isolation intersect.
How long did it take to write/record? We wrote the music over a couple of nights, the lyrics took a little longer. We then recorded the song over two days at Tone City with Sam Ford.
Is this track from a forthcoming release/existing release? Yes, it's taken from our debut self-titled EP which will be released in November this year.
What was inspiring you during the song's writing and recording? Other groove based artists like Whitest Boy Alive and Foals. The chorus idea was originally a lot happier, though we wanted to add greater depth so arranged the chords to have a more longing/sombre feel.
We'll like this song if we like... Foals, Whitest Boy Alive, Ball Park Music, The Cure, Sticky Fingers.
Do you play it differently live? There's always a certain ferociousness that comes with the track when we play live, where the subtleties of the studio are lost we make up for that with raw energy.
When and where is your launch/next gig? Sept 16 at The Bird with Moistoyster, Marlinspike and Feels.
