Butterfingers launch Everytime at The Zoo on Saturday.

Local Brisbane hip-hop outfit Butterfingers are currently copping a flogging on 4zzz with their wicked new single Everytime. It’s dirty and raw, and a sure fire way to be rolling round the floor laughing. The boys launch the new EP this Saturday at the Zoo with an all-star line-up. Head gangsta rapper Eddie and bass mechanic Dave gave me the low-down on the ‘fingers.

When did Butterfingers first come about, and how?

Eddie: “I was working at the zoo one night and there was a gap on the booking board in the office where there was nothing on and, (as a joke) I wrote my name in it. I sort of hoped that they would let me do it but didn't expect it 2 really happen so I did no preparation at all until about a week before the gig they told me it was going ahead and that I had to do it because it was too late to book any thing else.”

Your new single Everytime is great and well funny. What's the story there?

Dave: “I guess there's a lot of humour in what we do but Everytime kinda epitomizes all the stupid shit that we find funny and it's a good autobiographical account of Eddies life anyway. It's all true.”

How does Butterfingers feel about Satan?

Eddie: “Personal feelings don't really come into it. We are business partners more than anything. We were in a position where we were being offered some promotional work; the money was good so we took it on. I think he was losing the kids a bit so Butterfingers are the perfect vehicle for his ongoing campaign.”

What can Brizzie punters expect from the CD launch this sat nite?

Dave: “A fucking extravaganza! Guy Websters' all star band The Informants and Hot Rubber Glove are both gonna be working their magic live. We've got the Gravity Warriors break crew there to entertain alongside the legendary sounds of DJ Fluent JB and DJ NoMC. All in all it's a big local night and we can't wait.”

Where can we catch you over the next few months?

Dave: “We're supporting Resin Dogs in December and doing New Years at Rics.”

Any last words of advice for the kids out there?

Eddie: “Listen to the voices in your head, they are there for a very good reason.”

Dave: “Don't take Eddie seriously, especially when he's crawling across the Zoo stage wearing a hardhat and wielding a bullhorn.”
