Sydney Comedy Festival Gala

19 April 2016 | 1:45 pm | Mick Radojkovic

"A fantastic opening to what looks to be a packed and exciting 12th Sydney Comedy Festival."

Expertly hosted by Matt Okine, who went on to confess his abnormal love of chicken, we are treated to five-minute samplers of 16 comedians from the upcoming Sydney Comedy Festival and as usual, some hit the mark more than others.

Highlights included Andrew Maxwell who reminds us that the best part of an Irishman is their accent, physical comedy trio Aunty Donna, with their unique 'a cappella' act and "old jizzguts" and Anne Edmonds, who showed us why she was nominated for a Barry Award at the MICF.

It was the twisted Korean beatbox/Wiggles performance from Ongals that garnered the biggest cheer of the night. Something that has to be seen to be believed.
