"Her thespian skills will astonish."
The mercurial Nicole Henriksen – actor, singer, dancer, stripper, and social theory muse – performs less 'ha, ha, ha' comedy than immersive, interactive and intersectional experimental theatre.
She calls it "alternative comedy". Techno Glitter Penguins, one of her two bold MICF productions, is discomforting – and especially intense with a small turn-out in an intimate space. Seemingly escaping from The Fringe, Henriksen's weird "variety show" sees her assume successive guises – including that of a delusional (synth-) pop starlet and a self-proclaimed celebrity-cum-deity. Her thespian skills will astonish. But what it all really means remains a mystery. As always.
