"The mad stuff that rattles around your brain coming back to you from the stage."

The way she tells it, Jen Kirkman’s show is about turning 40, divorce, dating, sex, death, marriage, being a daughter, a friend, not having kids and not being a cougar. Y’know, the usual things that make up our day-to-day existence.

It’s oddly reassuring to hear the mad stuff that rattles around your brain coming back to you from the stage, only funnier. Maybe, just maybe, we’re not alone in our shortcomings: our refusal to participate in what’s expected when we don’t want to – especially when we don’t want to – is vindicated, and yeah, it seems as though the kind of casual single-bashing my smug married, mortgaged, minored friends dish out is pretty standard across the board.

The takeaway from the fabulous hour spent with a clever, saucy, savvy woman wearing great boots and an eye-catching outfit: don’t you want to have some fun before you die?!
