One woman has bucked the trend and had a good time at a New Year's Eve event.

Long bar lines, snarky security guards and misbehaving punters wasn't enough to ruin one New Year's Eve reveller's night earlier this week, with Melbourne woman Sarah Kennedy confirming to SPA Confidential this afternoon she “had a good time”.

“I danced, had a bit to drink, met some new people and just had a really fun night,” Kennedy said in a shocking interview. “New Year's can be really overrated a lot of the time, but I had a great one this year and hopefully that'll mean a good year ahead in 2014!”

Kennedy, 28, was looking forward to the event, which she attended with a group of friends. Despite spending $120 on a food and beverage package which was criminally underused due to a practically inaccessible bar, and spending 35 minutes waiting in line while security at the event sized up the suitability of prospective partygoers, Kennedy was chirpy about the party that ended 2013.

“I wasn't expecting to have, like, an amazing, time,” she admitted, saying she'd not heard of any of the DJs playing, “and I've definitely had better nights. But it was really good.

“Waiting for a cab was kind of annoying, but I got to level 37 on Candy Crush which was kinda cool,” Kennedy said of the estimated 20 minute wait at the end of her night. “And there were lots of dickheads around, but they all pretty much left me alone, which was nice.”

The surprise revelation has been met with shock from authorities today, who have assured us Kennedy's case is rare.

“Well I can certainly say that this is an isolated incident,” an insider wrote to SPA Confidential this afternoon as news of the reportedly enjoyable evening made waves across the country. “Most people end up at the very least disappointed, some downright miserable, at the events that transpire on 'the biggest night of the year'. Ms Kennedy certainly can't count on getting away with this year-in-year-out.”
