Nude Protest Against Streaming Performs Poorly

A nude protest against music streaming services has ended poorly in Melbourne today.

A naked protest against music streaming services has ended unremarkably in the Melbourne suburb of Coburg this afternoon leaving its organiser soul searching.

“Well it's been pretty warm of late, certainly haven't needed my jumper, so I thought why not go all out and throw together a naked protest?” organiser Gareth Jackson told SPA Confidential this afternoon.

After a rather spectacularly received naked protest against the UK's Daily Mail from Amanda Palmer late last week, a strong fight against Spotify mounted by Radiohead's Thom Yorke and producer Nigel Godrich, a naked video clip from Brisbane's Violent Soho and a streaker in Wednesday night's State Of Origin match, Jackson thought the stars were aligning.

“Apparently bands and musicians and stuff are getting paid shit all from these streaming things – that's what I heard on the radio anyway – so I thought we might as well rally against that. And nudity is just everywhere at the moment, which is great, and I wanted to get involved.”

No one turned up to the protest, which was promoted through Mr Jackson's social networks, but onlookers nearby quickly called police who arrived and told Jackson to cover up.

“It seemed like a good time to get naked,” Jackson said, dishevelled and somehow still nude. “Even that PR company that Kevin Rudd's team fired, they were called Naked and they were all over the fucking headlines. I just can't believe no one showed up.”

Jackson was quick to admit his knowledge of the issue at hand was far from vast.

“Don't get me wrong, I love me bloody music but I don't have a clue how bands get paid. I just get CDs from my mates at work – Powderfinger, Pearl Jam, John Butler – chuck them in my car and then it's happy days.”

Mr Jackson later admitted “seeing tits” was a strong motivator for the protest.
