A more direct sound from the band

Sigur Rós have just released Ísjaki, a new track from their upcoming album release Kveikur. Last month, the Icelandic trio announced the news of their new LP, out Friday 14 June through XL Recordings/Remote Control.

The album is self-produced by the three members of Sigur Rós, vocalist Jón Þór Birgisson, bassist Georg Holm and drummer Orri Páll Dýrason and the new track cements a departure from their usual sound towards a more direct and melodic resonance.

The album news was delivered on the eve of the band's biggest US headline show to date at New York's Madison Square Garden, and two new songs have already been unveiled; the lead single Brennisteinn and the title track which the band performed live on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
