We wrap up their epic tour with Sabbath

More Shihad More Shihad

To say the boys from New Zealand rock outfit Shihad have been floating on cloud nine lately would be an understatement. The band have recently completed their dream tour as the support act for metal legends Black Sabbath.

They gave theMusic.com.au the inside look into life on the road with Sabbath and it seemed to live up to the guys expectations. Bass guitarist Karl Kippenberger recalled the day they got to meet the 'lord of darkness' himself.

"When we were introduced as the support band Shihad, he retorted,"Shihad? You guys must be fookin' crazy calling yourselves that! I mean, New York? Iraq?" Yes that's right, Ozzy called us crazy!? A big compliment coming from him."

There was also a run in with Aussie boxing champ Danny Green backstage at their Perth concert. He gave their stage production guy Richard a call, who was quick to warn Green off any shenanigans after the show.

"I got a call from a Danny Green asking if I could sort him a meet and greet [and beer] with the band, I told him it would be fine but if he makes any trouble back stage I would have to sort him out...He turns out to be a great fella and a massive Shihad fan."
