Born in London, raised in Sydney and now living in Melbourne, Matt Thorley has been an avid consumer of music and culture since crawling across the Abbey Road crossing in the late '90s. Since then he likes to think his writing and taste have gradually evolved, having had the opportunity to broadcast with SYN and Triple R, write for Trouble Juice and Verve, and interview artists across the international musical spectrum from Squid to Donny Benét. At the height of one of Melbourne’s many lockdowns, Matt launched Flubber Soul - an independent publication in which he frequently reviews albums, interviews artists and discusses art at large. Like most music nerds, when not writing about and consuming music, Matt is digging at record shops or amateurishly working on music at home that seems to be perpetually ‘almost ready’.
