Album Review: Vattnet Viskar - Settler

Talk about brutality. Vattnet Viskar’s root sound is an extreme staccato, with timing so tight it’s hard to believe it’s made by humans.

On Colony, their technique is so severely abrupt it sounds more like heavy machinery seizing up than regular instruments. They also have a knack for slower, atmospheric numbers, such as the Yob-esque Yearn and Heirs with its throat-lacerating vocals. These Americans might just be one of the most radical and exciting phenomena to slap extreme metal around the chops in quite some time.
