Album Review: Thom Lion & The Tamers - Sleep Riot

StarStar

"'Sleep Riots' sadly falls a little flat."

Thom Lion wears his heart on his sleeves with this indie-rock EP Sleep Riots.

With brutally honest loving lyrics about love and saying goodbye, especially in So Sorry — "when you board that plane, I'll love you anyhow" — almost feels like a romantic movie when someone is leaving. Thom Lion's gravelly vocals hit all the right notes, but at times he sounds a bit like Declan Melia from British India, especially in opener Fire Escape and Mess At Best. Sleep Riots sadly falls a little flat, as there is nothing to lighten up the mood from such heartache and mellow tunes.
