From triple j Unearthed recognition to
inking a deal with (ahem) Unearth vocalist Trevor Phipps' label imprint
and relocating from Australia to Canada,
these tech-deathsters possess considerable ambition.

That said, how many acts attained anything significant by merely aiming to headline their local pub? This second LP, a sprawling, frequently dissonant concept affair, has similarly lofty aspirations. An accomplished outing though, it's not just a dizzying barrage of blasts and tremolo-picked guitars. The run time could've been truncated, but Apus exudes sharpened melodic flirtations and more coherent transitions. Off-kilter chord progressions and incisive riffage keep the listener enthused.
