"The Demon Parade continue to mine their fascination for all things psychedelic and garage rock-leaning."

With their new EP, Melbourne's The Demon Parade continue to mine their fascination for all things psychedelic and garage rock-leaning.

They mix in an Eastern vibe courtesy a sitar on the opening track and show they can reel in both heavyweight psych-rock and shoegaze sounds circa Swervedriver and Ride. The five songs are all strong in terms of composition and their sonic properties but they're trading in a style that sounds overcooked and done to death. Without anything to set them apart from similar copyists doing more interesting work this EP comes off as merely competent.
