To get away with such a monotonous beat, opener Show Me A Little Love needs a more dynamic rhythm section, or more personable vocals. Instead, frontman Matthew Barker's controlled-yet-whingey singing style grates, and is given too much volume and focus in each track considering his clichéd, simple lyrics. A flatly saccharine example of upbeat sunshine-pop, single I've Got You On My Mind insists on lodging itself inside your brain. Later tracks are more downbeat, but similarly uninspired. Intimate to the extent of thinness, The Bucketseat's musical compositions feel far too pedestrian and amateur.
