The most common way to describe Sam Simmons is to call him absurd, but that simply does not do him justice.
The craft that goes into this year’s MICF Barry Award-winning show is second to none. A simple list, aptly titled Things That Shit Me, is used to bounce from ridiculous thought to ridiculous thought.
Some jokes that seem like throwaways are subtly recalled later in the show, while those that don’t land are dismissed with aplomb, and Simmons’ confidence to run head-on into his own jokes using props, when some comics would dismiss it as unthinkable, is remarkable. Essential.
