Fringe: This Can't End Well

23 September 2014 | 12:11 pm | Fiona Spitzkowsky

This Can’t End Well, brilliantly performed by David S Innes and directed by Rob Lloyd, is a self-declared show for buffs, from Whovians to chemistry lovers. While all the pop-culture in-jokes are extremely gratifying – an opening night favourite was the wonderfully terrible Hamlet soliloquy – the triumph of this show is that it emerges from the shroud of laughter as a moving and relatable story of coming out, depression and the healing power of love. The script is deliciously clever and Innes’ characterisation is close to faultless.
