"There are multiple lazy melodies and hooks to enjoy amid the meandering arrangements."
Newly minted LA resident Mac DeMarco listened to a steady diet of James Taylor and Paul Simon in the lead-up to his third proper album, a choice mirrored in the languid vibe of the predominantly acoustic collection.
There's still plenty of charm courtesy of DeMarco's strong DIY vibe - he once again plays everything on the album - but instead of his trademark goofiness, there's a world-weary resignation to tracks like the indolent My Old Man and the sombre title track. Regardless, there are multiple lazy melodies and hooks to enjoy amid the meandering arrangements.
