"Smooth record that adds another feather to a hat already brimming with colour."

More Lou Doillon More Lou Doillon

It seems almost unfair that a woman whose career in acting and modelling already outranks most of her contemporaries could add another string to her bow, but here we are.

Lou Doillon, the type of femme fatale you thought you'd only find in film noir classics, throws sand in our faces with her second record, Lay Low. Her soulful, bluesy voice has character and grit, and it commands the respect of the listener. Decent but unremarkable arrangements exist only to support Doillon's vocals, and rightly so. The result is a smooth record that adds another feather to a hat already brimming with colour.
