In the lead up to the release of her debut LP, Salt, in September, we wanted to put the new and upcoming ROSEAU on your radar. An ever-so-talented London lady whose single, 'Alright', is currently available for FREE DOWNLOAD.
Both delicate and discombobulating, we have no doubt that Kerry Leatham's music is going to flourish within the futuristic UK bass realm that so few female artists have yet to capitalise on. Her sense for industrial electronica is unique, because it combines those deep basslines and mechanical pings and pops, with acoustic undertones and soft folky vocals. Her tracks currently featuring on soundcloud, 'Alright' and 'New Glass' encapsulate exactly that.
ROSEAU music paints a picture of love and loss and how these things influence the decay and glory of our every day lives. She combines flawless harmonies and engrossing pitches (inspired by R&B powerhouse Lianne Le Havas, who she's toured with) - but intelligently constructs her vocals within a UK grime paradigm.
ROSEAU's eccentric talent hasn't gone unnoticed though, being scooped up by UK producer Lapalux a couple years ago and featuring on his lo-fi-heart-squeezer of a track 'Without You'. And we most recently noticed she is also a friend of our favourite, SHURA. We seriously can't think of any more reasons not to love this girl!
Said to be released on September 18th with Big Dada, her debut album, Salt, aims at recapturing fragments of desolation and city life, from abandoned apartments to one night stands, to train lines trips and empty car yards, to missed phone calls and early mornings.
