Live Review: Jason Gaffner channels the 'Phantom' of the Disco

LA producer Jason Gaffner drops the fourth and final single from his forthcoming debut EP, Journeys, called 'Phantom' and it's an instant disco classic

LA producer JASON GAFFNER returns with a track called 'Phantoms,' the fourth, and final funky instalment from his EP, Journeys. Much like the rest of the EP, 'Phantom' is laced with upbeat disco vibes.

A true perfectionist, the LA artist wrote and re-wrote the track, but he eventually settled on his first scores, because it really captured the essence of what he was trying to achieve. "'Phantoms' was re-written about three times and I ultimately went back to the first version which I originally wrote just for piano and vocals," Jason Gaffner commented.

Gaffner brings the funk into 'Phantom' immediately, with his soulful percussion and smooth pop vocal. The guitar structures the track nicely, adding a little sass and style to work alongside the catchy percussive hooks, employing some seriously funky bass licks, and building the drama towards the end of the final verse.

You can now get your ears around Jason Gaffner's full Journeys EP on Spotify and iTunes via Mammal Sounds.
