Sydney-sider DENZEL STERLING is one heck of a busy guy. When he's not busy organising and running the next Sidechains party, he's working on his own music, graphic designs, touring artists with Sidechains, releasing sounds on his label and more recently, honing in on their brand new live Friday night slot at FBi Radio.
I don't know how he finds the time, but if you've ever spoken with him, he's a passionate guy. Which is why we're so excited to hear his latest output, and that is 'Eccho'.
It's hard to pinpoint where this one fits on the genre-recognisability scale. It feels like trap, but with a future twist to it. Bass and sound effects seem to be the running theme here, and it really packs a punch with its delivery.
'Eccho' sees Denzel further hone in on a sound we've heard from him before, but nothing like this. It's gritty, dark and feels like something straight from a video game soundtrack.
There's elements of hip hop in there too, something that's a bit more subtle, but nonetheless defining in the way it's been utilised.
Denzel's definitely a master of his craft. Defining sounds that would otherwise seem unconventional and recontextualising them to suit his own domain of sounds and understanding, he's no stranger to trying something different.
