This album is further proof. It is the sort of thing one might disown, given the chance.

Weezy as good as disowned this one before we critics got a chance to share our feelings. It was a peculiar move from Tunechi. He releases a mediocre album (Rebirth) for every good album (Tha Carter III). He spent a significant slice of his career releasing guest spots and mixtapes en masse with little regard for their quality. And with this record he's continuing a franchise whose first installment was little more than a promotional tool to keep fans happy during Weezy's first jail term. This begs the question: if Lil Wayne has disowned none of his previous work, but has come close to disowning I Am Not A Human Being II, how awful can it be?

Well, if it could have been worse; it's unlikely that it could have contained more dick jokes. Wayne, and presumably his muse/penis, sways from song to song, no track meaningfully different from another, no hot bars left seared in your memory. IANAHB is Weezy rapping over a piano. It's something we haven't heard before and, as far as that goes, it's interesting. It stands alone as a talking point though. Not even 2Chainz's energy on Days And Days or Rich As Fuck break the spell. Nor does Drake's star power on Love Me.

Recently Wayne dropped a guest verse on a Limp Bizkit track. “What the fuck is up? … I'm on this and that, and such and such”, he rapped. Clearly, he's more shirker than worker these days. This album is further proof. It is the sort of thing one might disown, given the chance.
