Album Review: Lenka - The Bright Side

"Lenka comes at us with happy little bubbles of songs."

More Lenka More Lenka

As the title suggests, Lenka’s fourth solo album finds her in a positively buoyant and optimistic mood, irrepressible as her soft, breathy voice optimistically crosses over to the impossibly bright side.

It’s a place where most jaded, worldweary listeners are sure to need a really dark pair of sunglasses. The pop arrangements sound primed for advert and TV series soundtracks. Lenka comes at us with happy little bubbles of songs like Blue Skies and Free, which really don’t need further explanation. “I am me and that’s unique,” she sounds off on Unique, hitting saccharine notes.
