"The songs here revolve around nostalgia and intimate portraits of love and betrayal."

More Judith Owen More Judith Owen

There’s a wonderful retro feel to this album, harking back to the legends of the ‘70s.

There are nods to Carole King, Joni Mitchell and James Taylor, Owen sounding like she would have fitted perfectly into that period with her self-penned piano numbers. The songs here revolve around nostalgia and intimate portraits of love and betrayal. Highlights include About Love and the memory-laden One In A Million, looking back at friends and the end of youthful dreams. As it happens, she’s married to Harry Shearer and appeared as a backing singer for Spinal Tap.
