Album Review: I'LLS - Can I Go With You To Go Back To My Country

StarStarStarHalf Star

"Clinically precise percussive beats."

Melbourne electro-pop purveyors I’lls have buried a lot of melodic gold beneath the bewitching layers of their latest EP.

Tantalising single Outright has been whetting appetites lately and these six gems capitalise on that same warm, lush vibe. The clinically precise percussive beats that ride atop the motifs in A /B /A and Let Me Have Just One at times threaten to overwhelm the gentle guitar lines and Simon Lam’s Cass McCombs-esque breathy vocal, but the ebb and flow structure fleshes out and lifts them up.
