Feeding Fiction builds on the post-hardcore and radio-rock formulae of the last decade

With a crisp pop-punk production, Feeding Fiction builds on the post-hardcore and radio-rock formulae of the last decade. While Heartist might occasionally dip into some plodding, djenty grooves, for the most part the band seem more interested in fierce, uplifting hooks, which are in no short supply on the album. Vocalist Bryce Beckley makes a few attempts at a softer, introspective style, but is at his strongest when letting a bit of grunt in. The number of catchy passages – as well as the angsty lyrical themes – sees the record fall somewhere between Paramore and Every Time I Die.
