Serene.

Brisbane instrumental five-piece Ghost Notes’ third opens with the 13-minute Vanishing Point – a meandering journey both subtle and expansive – before the post-rock of Split Solitary morphs into a more traditional rock tableau that peters into the ether.

Elsewhere, Freedom Scouts has a dusty desert vibe, showcasing versatility as well as vitality, the rhythms and tempos foreign but inviting. Trumpet is prominent throughout, lilting and stabbing equally, whilst drums roll and tumble, pianos tinker and guitars are used subtly but effectively, with plenty of space to bolster both impact and anticipation. Serene.
