Im’s vocals may be of the traditional powerhouse ilk, but every note rings hollow here.

More Dami Im More Dami Im

Full disclosure: I did not follow Dami Im's journey on X-Factor. With this in mind, it is unsurprising that her debut record, rush-released post-win, is a collection of safe covers that strip the power of the original material to the point of insult. Who knew it was possible to bastardise Purple Rain into smooth easy listening, or make U2 even more insufferable. Im's vocals may be of the traditional powerhouse ilk, but every note rings hollow here; poor imitations poured atop too current song choices like Roar and Wrecking Ball turn it into a karaoke record.
